1. Commitment to Accessible Learning
Food Safety Academy is committed to providing accessible, inclusive food safety training for all students regardless of disability, language background, cultural background, or learning needs. FSA's online platform is designed to support a wide range of learners across Canada.
2. Platform Accessibility Features
The FSA learning management system includes the following accessibility features:
- Screen reader compatible interface and navigation.
- Full keyboard navigation support throughout the platform.
- Adjustable text size and high contrast display mode.
- Contextual language support in French, Spanish, Punjabi, Tagalog, and Mandarin alongside official English content.
- Audio support for lesson content where available.
- Mobile and tablet compatible design.
- PDF workbook available for download for offline reference.
3. Examination Accommodations
Students with documented disabilities or special needs may request examination accommodations including:
- Extended examination time (up to 50% additional time).
- Alternative identity verification arrangements where standard webcam verification presents a barrier.
- Technical assistance during the examination session.
4. Requesting Accommodations
Students requiring accommodations must contact FSA at least 5 business days before their intended examination date.

Requests must include:
- Student full name and account email.
- Description of accommodation needed.
- Supporting documentation if applicable (e.g., physician letter, assessment report).
FSA will respond within 3 business days and work with each student individually to provide reasonable and appropriate accommodations.
5. Certification and Examination Standards
The standard FSA course is designed for 6+ hours of learning. The final examination uses a 70% passing score, equal to 35/50 correct answers. Students have a maximum of 3 attempts, with a 24-hour wait between attempts. Examination retakes within the maximum attempt limit are included in enrollment at no additional cost.
Certificates are valid for 5 years. Students have free certificate access from the student dashboard throughout the validity period and may contact support@foodsafetyacademy.ca if assistance is needed.
6. Complaint Process
Students who feel their accommodation request was not adequately addressed may submit a written complaint to support@foodsafetyacademy.ca. FSA will acknowledge the complaint within 2 business days and provide a response within 5 business days.
