Technical requirements

Please confirm your setup meets the following before you start.

  • InternetMinimum 5 Mbps for video playback
  • AudioSpeakers or headphones required (course includes audio and video)
  • ScreenMinimum resolution 1024×768
  • ExamRequires fullscreen mode and webcam/photo for identity verification

Course workbooks (PDF)

Workbooks are available from your student dashboard and at the bottom of each lesson after you enroll. Downloads use a secure, time-limited link — sign in to access yours.

Exam Results & Certificate Delivery

  • Exam results are displayed instantly upon submission.
  • Your certificate is available for download immediately after passing.
  • A certificate number is assigned automatically and can be verified at app.foodsafetyacademy.ca/verify
  • Certificate validity: 5 years from date of issue (BC FOODSAFE Level 1 standard).

Instructor Support

  • Students can submit questions to the instructor directly from any lesson.
  • The instructor responds within 48 business hours by email.
  • For urgent technical issues, contact support@foodsafetyacademy.ca — response within 24 business hours.

Accessibility & Special Accommodations

  • Food Safety Academy is committed to accessible learning.
  • Students requiring special accommodations for the exam (e.g., extended time, screen reader compatibility, alternative formats) should contact support@foodsafetyacademy.ca at least 5 business days before their intended exam date.
  • We will work with each student individually to provide reasonable accommodations in compliance with applicable accessibility standards.
  • The course interface is compatible with modern screen readers and keyboard navigation.

FAQ

  • I can't see the video

    Try refreshing the page or switching browsers. Make sure your internet speed is at least 5 Mbps.

  • I lost my certificate

    Log in and go to your dashboard. Your certificate is always available for download.

  • The exam won't start

    Make sure you have completed all lessons first. The exam unlocks automatically.

  • Can I pause the course?

    Yes, your progress is saved automatically. You can resume anytime within your 30-day course access period.

  • My browser blocked fullscreen

    Allow fullscreen access in your browser settings. The exam requires fullscreen mode.

Re-exam policy

Rules for retaking the certification exam.

  • Students who do not pass may retry after 24 hours.
  • Maximum 3 attempts per enrollment (included at no extra cost).
  • Passing score: 70% (35/50 questions).
  • If all 3 attempts are exhausted, please contact support@foodsafetyacademy.ca

Exam integrity

How we protect the integrity of your exam session.

  • The exam is administered online through our LMS which acts as an established proctoring service.
  • Identity verification via photo ID is required before starting the exam.
  • Fullscreen mode is enforced during the exam.
  • Tab switching and fullscreen exits are monitored and logged.
  • Any violation may result in exam cancellation.

Our Course Improvement Process

  • Student Feedback: Every student completes a satisfaction survey upon course completion covering training materials, exam quality, and delivery method effectiveness.
  • Retention & Completion Tracking: We monitor enrollment-to-completion rates and exam pass rates monthly through our administrative dashboard.
  • Annual Content Review: Course content is reviewed annually by our food safety subject matter expert against current BC food safety regulations and BCCDC guidelines.
  • Peer Review: Course materials are reviewed by an independent food safety professional prior to any major content update.
  • Learning Outcomes Tracking: Student achievement of each module's learning outcomes is tracked through module assessments and final exam performance.
  • Continuous Updates: Content is updated whenever BC food safety regulations or Health Authority guidelines change.
