- Passing score & if you do not pass
- 70% to pass (35/50 correct). If you do not pass, you can retake the exam free of charge as many times as you need within your 30-day access period. Each attempt draws a new set of 50 questions.
- Results timing
- Your score is shown immediately after you submit the exam.
- Certificate timing
- Every exam that achieves a passing score receives human identity review before any certificate is issued. Review is normally completed within 2 business days; you will receive an email when your certificate is ready (or if a retake or rejection applies). Your score is still shown immediately after you submit — see Results timing above.
- Certificate expiry
- 5 years from the date of issue.
- Confidentiality of results to third parties
- Your exam results are confidential and visible only to you. If your employer purchased your seat, your employer can see whether you completed the course, whether you passed, and your certificate — you are told this before you start. We do not share your results with anyone else without your written consent, except when required by law or requested by a public health authority. Anyone can verify a certificate by its number; verification shows only the certificate number, holder name, issue date and expiry date — never your score.
- Exam retake options
- If you do not pass, you can retake the exam free of charge as many times as you need within your 30-day access period. Each attempt draws a new set of 50 questions.
- Challenge exam
- A challenge exam (writing the exam without taking the course) is not offered.
- Accommodations
- If you need an accommodation (for example extra exam time of up to 30 minutes or screen-reader support), email support@foodsafetyacademy.ca at least 5 business days before you plan to write the exam. Requests are reviewed individually. Accessibility policy
